Two INTERSOS staff members were hit by gunfire while stopping at a checkpoint after carrying out food distribution activities in the Region of South West and North West of Cameroon. Our two colleagues were wounded, but their condition is not critical and they have received medical treatment. We firmly condemn this attack against humanitarian workers who were present in the area in order to provide much needed assistance to the vulnerable population. Once again we want to underline that humanitarian workers and activities should never be a target. Our activities in the area have been suspended pending a detailed investigation regarding the dynamics of the incident and a new assessment of security conditions.
