Humanitarian congress

Growing Global Disorder: Are humanitarians equipped for cascading wars and disasters?

On the 3rd and 4th of November, INTERSOS organised a Humanitarian Congress, two days of debates with experts on the humanitarian world of today and the challenges of the future, through round tables, lectures and thematic workshops.

The event aimed at promoting a, significant and high-level debate on key humanitarian issues, dilemmas of the humanitarian sector, ethical issues, issues related to humanitarian principles, politicization and instrumentalisation of aid, funding and donors’ issues. We consider the congress as an opportunity to raise awareness on humanitarian crises and dilemmas as well as reinforcing the relation among a larger humanitarian community in Italy. The congress was be held in English and Italian, with simultaneous translation.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, from the 27th of October to the 6th of November 2022, INTERSOS organised a series of events at MAXXI, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts, in Rome.

From the 27th of October to the 6th of November 2022, at the MAXXI Corner, a photographic exhibition took place with photos by Alessio Romenzi and Christian Tasso, taken in INTERSOS’ main countries of intervention and, at the same time, among the most serious crises of our time, such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Yemen and Lebanon. The exhibition promoted INTERSOS’ identity and the reasons why the organisation operates in the field, emphasising the essence of a frontline humanitarian organisation that works by putting people at the centre of its intervention. The inauguration of the exhibition was be held on the 27th of October at 6 pm at the MAXXI Corner.
