INTERSOS is sad to announce the loss of Adil Abdi Mohamed, 20 years old, member of our mission in Somalia, who died along with his brother in the attack against a restaurant in Baidoa, on October 13th.
Adil joined INTERSOS’ mission as a student in 2015 and was enthusiastic about the course (Basics in Plumbing). He supported his tutor at the time and after graduation offered to support others in the learning process.
He has since worked with our beneficiaries as a mentor in our Vocational Center in Baidoa.
He was the last born in a family of eight. He lost his mother at the age of seven and was brought up by his father who also died in the year 2015. In the year 2015, he was among a group of minors who were identified by INTERSOS as at risk and entered our vocational program.
Adil will be always remembered for his gentle smile, dedication and hard work. He has been a role model for many children who have been affected by the long standing armed conflict in the country. He was a star that will keep on shining in the minds and hearts of those who knew him.
