Help with school and health system registration, information on reception and humanitarian protection, recreational activities. Our staff provides support in reception facilities and in the INTERSOS24 centre
Refugees from Ukraine arrived in Italy up to now are more than 90,000, between 13,000 and 14,000 only in the city of Rome. Their reception in the capital is managed by the Civil Protection together with Regione Lazio. INTERSOS, as a humanitarian organisation dealing for years with access to services for refugees and migrants in Rome, has been involved in the task force created by the Municipality of Rome for the reception of refugees and to give them social support and assistance in accessing services. At the moment in the capital 11 hotels have been allocated for reception, accommodating about 2,000 people, and INTERSOS is in charge of two of them.

INTERSOS staff are also carrying out activities for the integration of refugees in the INTERSOS24 centre in Torre Spaccata. In this period, the centre is acting as a reference point for Ukrainian families hosted in the neighborhood: the social desk, thanks to a Ukrainian-speaking mediator, provides information on the reception and application for temporary humanitarian protection, facilitates the registration to the National Health System by obtaining the STP code (Straniero temporaneamente presente – temporarily present foreigner) and the enrollment in school for children. The centre’s social outpatient clinic is also available for medical examinations and we offer free Italian courses and recreational activities that mothers and children can attend inside the Safe Space, which is the space in the centre dedicated to vulnerable women, migrants and not, who live in the territory.
